Your point about how using midi for parameter modulation is very coarse is certainly true, but it doesn’t have to be that way. NRPNs were invented so we could have that f8ne granularity. But most of the user base never went to the trouble of understanding how to use them, and so manufacturers dropped their support for thrm. As far as I know Akai has especially abandoned NRPNs. There is the added frustration of those few midi controllers that do support it, trnd let you either use coarse, or do fine, not as intended with Coarse + Fine. Actually CME is developing a product right now, the H4Midi WC, which can act as a Usb midi host for 8 devices on a hub, plus 4 groups through USB-C to a computer, if you wanted to connect it, + a pair of midi 5 pin DIN. It has support for midi routing, filtering, and even mapping from one message to a different one. All for $49 right now on preorder and $69 later. But this device could make it possible to send NRPNs from a device like a Launch Control XL. I've spoken to CME and they're willing to consider it, depending on how many people request NRPN support. So the fact so many just accept the coarseness of midi CCs means it'll probably not happen. Oh well...

I bought the Roland Verselab MV-1 2 weeks ago, and am pondering to buy the MPC One + from Akai. But.. it seems, that Akai MPC One (and +) doe not have much synth sounds inside. Its all samples that you put on the memorycards... The MV-1 has 3000 sounds in rom. and they sound great. Still pondering. . I am not fighting a war among music hardware fans, as the only thing we all love is making music. Wether its Akai, Roland, or any other brand. Have a nice day anybody

when setting up the midi mapping on the lc xl, the mpc often losses the cc info and showing only the entry row with no cc's. then i have to go to the entry row and set it up again. same happens on the force. is anyone else having this issue? its very annoying.

Very cool tip. I just tried the track change with an old Novation SLMKii and it works! I had to send these program change numbers : Track 1 = PC 0 Track 2 = PC 1 Track 3 = PC 2 Track 4 = PC 3 Track 5 = PC 4 Track 6 = PC 5 Track 7 = PC 6 Track 8 = PC 7 So it works out as tracks 1 - 128 are program change 0 - 127

Thank You! I’m shopping and with my interest in the MPC_One+ i, looked at the Live2. I have Apollo8 and Live2’s 6 out suits me. I like the portability of having battery but I duly acknowledge your opinion regarding the button layout and less keys. Now I’m looking at the XSE.

Are you able to assign your sequences on the LC? I’ve seen the sequences be assigned and triggered with the Launchpad was curious if it could do it also.

it's really bonkers that mpc doesn't have a way to interactively create midi mappings. just press a "learn" button and move the knob you want. So many other devices have this

Would you mind showing how the shelves are put together in a future studio tour? I'm looking for inspiration on how to put different gear together. I am trying to make a template with more that eight strips and I also really want to use all four MPC sends on each strip. I will use the send on the first eight just as you suggest.... Super thanks again for that by the way.... Has anyone managed to use the LaunchControl XL Track & Send select buttons to add more pages etc on the MPC?? Cheers all PS, Akai please make a global mapping for this controller... Just make it do all the basic mixing functionality stated on the LCXL face plate so that it works like it does on any DAW. Launchcontrol XL one of the most useful and popular controllers for the MPC please make it work properly..... I really love my MPC but If I cant get more than eight strips going I feel I will have no choice but to find an alternative solution. You guys (Akai) spend loads of dosh making superb fancy new plugins (which is fantastic) . Making a factory template for the XL should be a doddle and cost pence.... Throw an intern or trainee on it... Alternatively make that part of your software open source like BITWIG does and we can get it done ourselves!!

Can you assign to all the pads and keys and THEN use the mpc one to the side with it's own set of drums and such or does the mini just mimic what's assigned to the main drum pads on the ONE?

I am thinking of simplifying my studio, and am thinking of replacing my daw and computer setup with a solution like this. I do need to play full tracks of guitar and bass though. Is it possible to have a 4 minute track recording in the sequencer? Is there even a sequencer?

I have both, but I’ve had the MPC one for at least a year. I’ve only had the Live 2 for a week and it’s the truth! Have always preferred the MPC one layout and buttons, but it’s something about the Live 2 workflow that inspires creativity right away. Simple layout, less buttons, portability, WiFi and speaker are just game changers.

I already own the mpc live 2. I'd like to build a similar setup for live music. But maybe replace the akai keyboard with a synth. Let say a microKORG for example. Would I be able to easily switch the microKORG to master keyboard for playing the mpc sounds, and back to microKORG sounds ? Thanks, Daniel
